About

The National School of Healthcare Science are responsible for curricula for the Scientist Training Programme (STP) and Higher Specialist Scientist Training (HSST) programme.

The curricula

Each programme has been designed to ensure that our trainees ‘work at the limits of science’, enabling the delivery of the NHS constitutional commitment. The curricula focus on practical learning in the workplace coupled with academic learning at University. This training equips our trainees with the skills and knowledge to engage at the forefront of their specialty, helping them to drive innovation within patient care.

Our aim is to provide scientifically robust, future proofed curricula. Our vision is to train Healthcare Scientists to meet the challenges of today’s health service and embrace the technologies of tomorrow.

The Curriculum Library details the academic and work-based content for each module and, where appropriate, the assessment strategy for the module. Users are able to share competency and module information with colleagues or training officers.

We manage and update our curriculum through systematic review to continuously enhance the quality of learning for our trainees.
