Evidence requirements
Evidence the observation or experience has been undertaken by the trainee.
Reflections on the observation or experience at two timepoints including contextualisation to the trainees own practice. E.g., for planned observations, a reflection before the observation and after, or for unplanned events a reflection one day after and another reflection a week later.
Considerations
- Examples of complex patients may include, but are not limited to, those with:
- Dual sensory impairment
- Syndromic hearing loss
- Additional mental health needs
- Non-organic hearing loss
- Auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder
- Multiple disabilities
- Consider elements of the journey, such as:
- Referral background
- Patient history
- Impact of diagnosis on patient care and support
- Application of patient-centered principles
- Co-ordination and access to services
- Patient experience and journey
- Involvement of other professionals in the care pathways
- Adjustments for different diagnosis
- Differential diagnosis
- Safeguarding and patient consent issues
- Shared decision making and patient centered care
- Documentation
