Reflections on the observation or experience at two timepoints including contextualisation to the trainees own practice. E.g., for planned observations, a reflection before the observation and after, or for unplanned events a reflection one day after and another reflection a week later.

  • Acceptance criteria for patient samples
  • The importance of appropriate fixation and the effect on downstream testing pathways including implications for PCR
  • Health and safety, including laboratory safety and handling fixed tissues
  • Infection control measures when working with human tissue
  • Ethical and safe use, and the storage and disposal of residual specimens, blocks and slides
  • The impact of digital pathology
