Reflections on the observation or experience at two timepoints including contextualisation to the trainees own practice. E.g., for planned observations, a reflection before the observation and after, or for unplanned events a reflection one day after and another reflection a week later.

Considerations

  • The range of technical skills required to perform the role
  • The steps required to record data, including patient identity, information governance and the document management process
  • Health and safety, including laboratory safety and handling fixed tissues
  • Infection control measures when working with human tissue
  • Ethical and safe use and the storage and disposal of residual wet specimens, blocks and slides
