Training activity information
Details
Observe radiochemical purity testing of radiopharmaceutical products and reflect on the process
Type
Observational training activity (OTA)
Evidence requirements
Evidence the observation or experience has been undertaken by the trainee.
Reflections on the observation or experience at two timepoints including contextualisation to the trainees own practice. E.g., for planned observations, a reflection before the observation and after, or for unplanned events a reflection one day after and another reflection a week later.
Considerations
- Consider the elements of process including:
- Process and requirements for obtaining a QC sample
- Methods for testing, including thin layer chromatography, stationary and mobile phases
- Methods of counting
- Calculation of RCP
- Acceptable limits
- Actions for out of spec results
- Documentation
- Radiation protection protocols
- Impact on patient care of failed results
- Causes for failures
- Good practice
