Details

Perform allergy testing including all of the following (to be performed after observation of the procedure):

  • skin prick test
  • patch test
  • oral challenge
  • mast cell tryptase and histamine release assays
  • ELISA/ImmunoCAP
  • component-resolved diagnostics.

Considerations

  • The pitfalls of the first three – largely clinical – assays currently performed by nurses/medics and how they relate to the laboratory assays used to investigate allergy.
  • Contraindications to performance of clinical allergy testing.
  • The laboratory protocols and procedures for the performance of allergy testing across the full range specified.
