- genitourinary tract, including sexually transmitted and urinary tract infections
- respiratory tract
- gastrointestinal tract
- skin and soft tissue
- eye
- liver (hepatitis)
- postoperative/inoculation.
Considerations
- The range of techniques available and their selection for each of the listed infections. to include:
- microscopy
- culture
- Nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT)
- ELISA
- mass spectrometry (MS).
- Factors affecting the selection of techniques and the benefits and implications of each.
- The protocols and procedures associated with this range of techniques.
