Investigate the frequency and clinical presentation of the following community-based infections:

  • genitourinary tract, including sexually transmitted infections and bacterial urinary tract
  • respiratory tract
  • gastrointestinal tract
  • skin and soft tissue
  • eye
  • liver (hepatitis)
  • postoperative/inoculation.

Considerations

  • The epidemiology of these infections in the community.
  • Clinical presentation of each of these infections.
  • The importance of investigating and confirming the frequency of community-based infections and occasions on which this is required.
  • The range of common and infrequent community-based infections and their significance for the population, service resources and communities.
