Details

Perform quality assurance and quality control tasks within the laboratory in the investigation of the following community-based infections:

  • genitourinary tract, including sexually transmitted and urinary tract infections
  • respiratory tract
  • gastrointestinal tract
  • skin and soft tissue
  • eye
  • liver (hepatitis)
  • postoperative/inoculation.

Considerations

  • The quality management system, including:
    • validation
    • internal quality control (IQC)
    • internal quality assessment (IQA)
    • external quality assessment (EQA) schemes, such as NEQAS audit.
  • The increasing importance of point-of-care testing in the investigation of infection in the community, including food, water and the environment.
  • Point-of care-technologies and their applications and role in these settings.
