Considerations

  • Confidentiality and the limits of the concept of confidentiality The cause and diagnosis of male subfertility.
  • Why referral for assisted conception is not the automatic pathway for patients and attempts to manage / alleviate the cause of male infertility which are not assisted conception may be most appropriate.
  • Lifestyle guidance which can be provided to the male and behavior/exposures which may affect sperm function or improve treatment outcome.
  • Surgical treatment options including surgical sperm retrieval and varicocele repair.
  • Psychosexual counseling options for patient with Erectile Dysfunction.
  • Other non-licenced treatment options including but not limited to pharmaceutical options for control or limitation of conditions, for example retrograde ejaculation.
  • The risks and limitations of all options.
