Competency information
Details
Using representative specimens from a range of tissues, identify the different types of inflammatory disease:
- acute inflammation
- chronic inflammation
- granulomatous inflammation.
Considerations
- Normal morphology of tissues and organs.
- Epidemiology of common pathologies.
- The mechanisms involved in the inflammatory process, including the cell types involved and the cascade of inflammatory response.
- The differences between all three types of inflammation and their role in disease, repair and healing.
- Rationale of the histological techniques required to demonstrate the different cell types involved in a tissue section.
