Provide non-directive genetic and genomic counselling in a supportive manner, in a case where pre- conceptual choices are being discussed with an individual or couple at increased risk of having a pregnancy affected with a genetic condition.

- Counselling strategies to facilitate the couple’s adjustment to this decision.
- Counselling skills including:
- Active listening skills
- Clarification skills
- Reflection and summary skills
- Appropriate use of empathic statements
- Ability to establish a good rapport with the individual/family and reflect on how this was achieved
- Act in accordance with GCRB Code of Conduct.
- Act in accordance with the HCPC and their standards of proficiency for clinical practice.
