Aim of this module

This module is an opportunity for trainees to develop their individual professional practice. Continued professional development is a requirement of registration as a Clinical Scientist and the ability to identify individual needs and self-direct development is an important professional skill. Career long learning and development ensure skills and knowledge are up to date and patient care continues to improve while being safe and effective.

Trainees should identify a personal development need relevant to their current or future practice which will improve the way they work and the quality of their practice. This is an opportunity for trainees to access different types of learning and experiences which could meet this development need. Trainees could develop their knowledge of a particular area of practice or understanding of the wider NHS and healthcare environment. Trainees can meet their identified development aim through a single event, or a series of events or development opportunities throughout the programme.
