Aim of this module

This module will introduce trainees to the practices and principles of Critical Care Science and the wider multidisciplinary team delivering care for critically ill patients.

Learning outcomes

On successful completion of this module the trainee will be able to: 

  1. Appraise the equipment that is used to monitor and support the Critical Care patient and describe the types of patients that require support in the critical care areas.
  2. Apply integrative knowledge of the multidisciplinary team involved in caring for patients in critical care.
  3. Demonstrate extended understanding of the requirements for clinical governance, and quality and safety regulations within the critical care areas.
