- Range of equipment used and principles of measurement, including Brown-Wickham technique and air-charged catheters
- Communication with patients throughout their investigation
- Control settings, correct use of software and annotation of the recording
- Recognition of artefacts and quality of traces
- Equipment issues that may compromise the investigation
- Scope of practice, including termination of the investigation and where to seek advice if required
- The principles of dignity, privacy and confidentiality
- Local policies and procedures
- Principles of valid informed consent and confirming ongoing consent
- Discharge information requirements and notification of results
