Training activity information
Details
Optimise ultrasound images during a selection of routine scans for:
- Arterial
- Venous
- Extracranial arterial
Type
Developmental training activity (DTA)
Evidence requirements
Evidence the activity has been undertaken by the trainee.
Reflection on the activity at one or more time points after the event including learning from the activity and/or areas of the trainees practice for development.
An action plan to implement learning and/or to address skills or knowledge gaps identified.
Considerations
- Principles of ultrasound imaging, including ultrasound frequency
- Transducers and beam forming
- B Mode controls
- Colour controls (e.g. gain, PRF, colour box size/steer and priority)
- Spectral doppler controls and the sources of errors when measuring velocity
- Artifact causes and corrections and patient centred care and support
