Programme aim
To provide clinical scientist trainees with strong science-based, patient-centred clinical training in Cardiac, Critical Care, Vascular and Respiratory and Sleep Sciences.
Programme level learning outcomes
Vascular Science
- Assess vascular anatomy and complex pathophysiology using ultrasound, applying the principles of ultrasound physics to optimise images
- Analyse, interpret and report ultrasound findings with reference to haemodynamics
- Evaluate the treatment pathways for vascular disease.
- Appraise the impact of research evidence on national guidelines and vascular science practice
- Develop and deliver services and practice in vascular science
- Perform quality assurance of Vascular Science practice.
- Communicate effectively with patients, carers and healthcare professionals.
- Practice in accordance with current guidance, evidence-base and professional standards
- Appraise the wider health and social context in which they practice and the patient experience of care, investigations and interventions
- Interpret, analyse and critique information and data to aid in patient care and service improvement.
