Considerations
- Standards and plans for ensuring that medical devices are appropriately maintained and the level of maintenance undertaken in relation to the complexity of the device and associated risks.
- Technical components that comprise planned maintenance which will incorporate the following elements:
- device identification
- visual inspection
- functional check
- performance verification
- calibration
- preventive maintenance
- safety testing.
- Record keeping of maintenance activities.
- Choice and use of test equipment, including the use of electromedical safety testers.
- Non-technical benefits of planned maintenance, e.g. asset verification.
