Aim of this module
This module will enable the trainee to gain experience in the skills required for the management of a l pharmaceutical services. This module aims to provide the trainee with a well-rounded skill set and to enable them to build the expertise necessary for practice in the NHS.

Clinical experiences
Clinical experiences help you to develop insight into your practice and a greater understanding of your specialty's impact on patient care. Clinical experiences should be included in your training plan and you may be asked to help organise your experiences. Reflections and observations from your experiences may help you to advance your practice and can be used to develop evidence to demonstrate your awareness and appreciation of your specialty.
Activities
- Talk to the departmental budget holder to appreciate their role in managing the finances of the department.
- Meet with a senior manger to appreciate need for forecasting the changes in activity of the department.
- With your manager, attend your departmental management meeting.
- Observe an external audit/inspection of the department.
- Attend a regional or national level meeting.
- Discuss with your manager the requirements for performing a PDR.
- Discuss with the Chief Pharmacist their role, daily activities, working relationships and pressures of the role.
- Attend divisional meetings where priorities and issues affecting pharmacy services are discussed for example business management meeting, contracts, HR or finance.
